Technology and Equipment

Affordable Housing, Rental Relief, and Down Payment Assistance for Atlanta Firefighters.

The Technology and Equipment portfolio consists of programs that increase recruitment and retention rates through a focus on modernization - purchasing essential equipment and introducing newer technologies for the betterment of the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department.

Fire Station Fund

Atlanta Fire Rescue Department manages 36 fire stations across the city. Over 1,200 firefighters live and work in these facilities, responding to fire and medical emergencies every day.

Maintaining the station houses and assuring every firefighter has access to the same amenities is a key priority of both the Department and the Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation. Donations to the Foundation’s Fire Station Fund help make that possible.

The primary purpose of the Fire Station Fund is to assure that all station houses are equipped with essential equipment like commercial-grade washers and dryers that remove carcinogens from their turnout gear. Additionally, each station house receives an annual allocation from the Fund to purchase items like exercise equipment and appliances selected by Station residents.

Supporters who make a $10,000 annual donation to the Fire Station Fund can honor a particular station with their gift. The donor’s name will be added to a recognition plaque at the Fire House and will have the opportunity to visit the station during the year the gift is made.

Process:

Submission Period:

Submissions for the Fire Station Fund are accepted on a rolling basis and subject to Departmental approval and station funding .

Station Notification:

Upon successful approval, a Foundation representative will notify station personnel.

Electrification

In alignment with the City of Atlanta’s sustainability goals, the Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation’s electrification program focuses on introducing electric vehicles to the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department. EV options are considered easier to service and repair than diesel trucks and align with the city’s commitment from 2017 to increase the EV readiness of the city and to ensure Atlanta remains a leading city in sustainability.

Successes:

First EV Quick Response Units

To date, successes of the program have led to the creation of the pilot and purchase initiative of the Department’s first ever EV quick response vehicles.
