Youth Pathways Programs

Camp Ignite

Camp Ignite is an aggressive fire department recruitment and diversity pathway for women, ages 14-18. The camp is intentionally aligned with Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ focus on opportunity programs for the city’s youth.

The program’s vision is to afford our community’s youth with the experience and mentorship that can offer guidance and insight in leading them towards a career in the fire service, emergency medical services (EMS), or public safety.

AFRD Cadet Program

The AFRD Cadet Program is a six month program for young men and women, ages 14-18, giving them a chance  to work side by side with active members of AFRD.

This opportunity will allow them to get a behind-the-scenes view of the fire industry and have a better understanding of the fire and emergency services. Additionally, this program is aligned with the United Way of Greater Atlanta’s goal. This program is increasing the child-wellness index for the youth of the City of Atlanta, thus increasing their college and career readiness.
